Dear Dave, Woohoo! My favorite time of night! Blog time! So while I was in the shower [the best time for thinking], I had a good idea. I could do a deal where you guys write questions to me and I answer them. Sorta like a cross between sbemails and Dear Abby. Just gooder than the Dear Abby one. I think it could work. Then like whenever you ask me questions, I could answer them and it would make up for my lack of original blog ideas. Let's try it. carvinplayer7@netscape.net Um...new topic to talk about? My Anglican Bible teacher? Nah, only Joy'd read that. Cars? Nah, nobody'd read that. Uh... daveakregotbored: drawing a blank belovedchild73: uh oh belovedchild73: hm....write about......... belovedchild73: something deep.... belovedchild73: like...why guys are afraid of commitment Wow. There's a topic. Guys are afraid of commitment? Then why the heck are we in charge of asking you girls out then askin you to marry us? Stupid rules. Well, I personally don't think I'm afraid of commitment, but I have nothing to commit to, so I don't think it's a fair assumption. I think commitment involves eliminating options and maybe ruling out possible fun later on. I think if we're only talking about girls here, then guys are afraid to commit cause we don't know what you girls are really thinking. I think. I mean, all these hard decisions are left up to us guys who don't often have a logical grip on reality. [shut up guys I'm talkin to the ladies, I'll get to you] In my limited experience, it seems like everything changes when you have a girlfriend. Every word could be taken more than one way. Every look or movement can be interpreted. I personally don't understand these signs. Never did. Maybe guys are afraid of commitment cause it's our responsibility to make the choices and make sure we're doing the right thing. We don't like failure. I was talkin to Amber on the way home from Winterfest and I think she hit it right on the head. Guys want/love/need respect. If a girl respects a guy, that makes him feel happy and good. If we do something stupid, then we lose the respect of the ladies around us, or even worse, the respect of the lady we admire. I know we don't like messing up. It's bad. Makes us look bad. And when we're in charge of stuff and we mess it up, it brings into question our capability of being in charge of stuff. I think it all comes down to a pride thing. We want respect. We won't get it if we screw things like commitment up. So we are kinda afraid to commit to things. Does that explain it well? Now guys, we can get over this. If it is only pride, then if we humble ourselves then won't we be fine? In theory anything can work. I think being the leaders, we just hafta submit ourselves to God's will and He will point us to what we need to do and when. We're supposed to be leaders. It's our place. I know cause it says so in that Bible book. We need to lead cause thats how life works. But through the Lord's guidance, we can do it right. Pretty cool, huh? posted by dave @ 9:39 PM |
